Making her way to work, Leighton Meester was spotted arriving on the set of “Gossip Girl” yesterday (August 30).

The CW cutie smiled from ear to ear as she strolled out of her trailer in a retro-style dress teamed with a pair of comfy-looking UGG boots.

When asked about her preference of cosmetics, Leighton told press she’s a big fan of the “less is more” approach.

She explained, “My makeup bag is so minimal it’s embarrassing. I like L’Oreal mascara, I like eyelash curlers, and I like a little bit of tinted moisturizer.”

“One of the best makeup tips I’ve ever gotten is to take off all your makeup because I’m generally really bad at that. That’s really saved my skin. But besides that I think just really being hydrated and being healthy. I think whatever’s on the inside shows on the outside, so it’s not as much about makeup as it is your health.”

Although there’s enough drama going on in Leighton Meester’s family to fill an entire storyline of Gossip Girl, the actress put on a happy face last night during her first public appearance since she and her mom sued each other.

Leighton was picture-perfect at the launch party for Vera Wang’s Lovestruck fragrance in New York City. Then again, she kind of had to be…

Leighton is the spokesperson for the new perfume, so she put her best foot forward for the bash at the James Hotel.

The actress came directly to the soiree from the Gossip Girl set and was in great spirits. “She seemed positive and upbeat,” an eyewitness tells me, adding that she was patient and friendly during the mandatory picture session.

“She was very interested in getting her palm read. It was more than just a photo op,” a guest tells me of Leighton’s psychic encounter above.

Hopefully, the palm reader foresaw an end to the mother-daughter drama in the future!

She just keeps expanding her horizons, and Leighton Meester’s latest gig is as the face of Vera Wang’s new fragrance Lovestruck.

The “Gossip Girl” hottie recently filmed a new commercial for the scent, looking fabulous in a maroon gown made by Ms. Wang especially for the occasion.

Leighton told press, “The concept is really cool, it’s like a modern day Romeo and Juliet and it’s very much about that rush you feel when you’re lovestruck, so that definitely speaks to me.”

“It’s really an honor to be picked by this campaign. I admire Vera so much … she really has a great eye for what women want and her style is so iconic and classic yet modern, so I think it speaks to women of all ages, myself included, so I’m really excited about it.”

Christmakkah has come early for fans of Chuck and Blair.

Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick were spotted shooting an oh-so-close scene on the NYC set of Gossip Girl yesterday. A scene in which it appears he is leaning in to kiss her. So correction, “Chair” fans: It’s pretty much Chrismukkeasterbirthday.

So does this mean it’s off with Prince Louis and Chuck and Blair are getting back together? Here’s what sources tell me:

Not so fast.

I’m told Chuck definitely still has feelings for Blair. And Blair definitely has feelings for Chuck—something that Louis knows and is deeply concerned about. But even as Ed and Leighton shot this scene, the wedding with Louis was still very much on, as evidenced by what you can’t see in this photo on her left hand: That big ol’ whopping engagement ring to the prince still firmly in place. “She is still deep in the throes of planning her wedding to Louis,” an insider says.

That said, don’t expect that the royal wedding will go off without a hitch.

There is most certainly hope for Chuck and Blair.

The 25-year-old Gossip Girl actress chatted about being in the eye of the fashion police every time she steps outside.

“I think it’s fine if you’re expecting to be judged. I completely close my eyes to all of that – I just wear whatever I like. Living in New York has influenced my style and made me braver and more aware of fashion,” Leighton shared.

She also dished about keeping her real friends around her: “I surround myself with people who know me for me and not from any show. They don’t judge me based on anything but how I act, and they tell me if I’m being an ass, for sure.”

This seemed to be the question going into the last half of “Gossip Girl’s” fourth season… and it’s still the question going into Season 5.

Let’s recap Blair’s (Leighton Meester) romantic endeavors in the Season 4 finale, shall we?

Chuck (Ed Westwick) saved Blair from crazy fire-lovin’ Russell Thorpe, she slept with Chuck after crashing a Bar Mitzvah, she wanted to break up with the Prince but Chuck convinced her not to (character development!), she left the UES for Monaco and is still engaged to Louis and, finally, she promised to keep watching movies with Dan (Penn Badgley) after copying his queue.

And yes, this all basically happened in one night.

So what is Badgley hoping to see happen between “Gossip Girl’s” odd couple when the show returns on Sept. 26?

“The most fun I’ve had in years were the Dan and Blair scenes because the dialogue is given an opportunity to go where it doesn’t go with Dan otherwise,” he tells EW’s Sandra Gonzalez. “I really enjoy that. I would like to see that explored.”

Spoiler Alert — Badgley and Meester were spotted filming scenes together in New York this week, so it looks like Lonely Boy will be getting his wish.

Mother-daughter relationships can be contentious enough on their own. Under the bright lights of Hollywood, they can turn downright destructive.

Latest example: “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester, who is suing her mom and ex-manager, Constance Meester, for custody of her younger brother after her mom allegedly spent money meant for her brother’s medical bills to pay for her own cosmetic surgery instead.

Meester filed the suit July 22 in Los Angeles, according to TMZ, which obtained the documents.

“Although [Constance Meester] is healthy and physically able to work, Constance refuses to do so,” the lawsuit says. “Instead, Constance expects her daughter to support her financially.”

TMZ reports that Leighton Meester sent her mom $7,500 a month to help pay for her brother Lex’s ongoing medical treatment. According to the suit, he has multiple health problems and is recovering from recent brain surgery.

But the 25-year-old “Country Strong” actress asserted that her mother spent the money on Botox, hair extensions, plastic surgery and other personal expenses.

Constance Meester, 55, claimed to TMZ that the monthly payments are part of a settlement for helping her daughter become successful. According to the suit, the mother maintains she had a verbal contract with Leighton Meester in which her daughter promised to give her $10,000 a month for the rest of her life. Leighton Meester has asked a judge to rule no such agreement exists.

Now, Constance Meester, who gave birth to her daughter while serving time in a federal prison for a drug smuggling conviction, is fighting back. She filed a countersuit Tuesday in which she alleged that her daughter repeatedly “hit her with a bottle” last December and was so crazed that her brother had to pull her off, TMZ reported.

Talk about ripped from the pages of a Gossip Girl script!

Leighton Meester has sued her somewhat infamous mother, Constance Meester, for claiming she got her hands on money that Leighton set aside for her sick brother and using it instead for Botox and hair extensions.

And now, Constance is suing her daughter right back, claiming that she “sacrificed her happiness” to further Leighton’s career and that the CW star has breached a contract by leaving her high and dry.

OMFG, right?

Constance claims that she and her other kids “sacrificed” their happiness to move to New York and then Los Angeles for Leighton’s career, and that the amount she shelled out over the years for private school and acting classes totaled more than $230,000.

Constance’s suit states that there was a legal deal in place to get $10,000 a month from Leighton, and that she has been, per the Welfare and Institutions Code, a “dependant adult” due to medical issues and is eligible for parental support.

Her daughter’s payments, she says, were late or nonexistent, and Constance’s home fell into foreclosure and she lost her health insurance this month.

Leighton has tried to turn her brother Alexander against their mom and has threatened to stop paying support payments if he didn’t move away from Constance, the suit alleges.

She also accuses Leighton of being the one who called social services on her by making up false claims that she was abusing Alexander’s head wound and otherwise mistreating him. After interviewing Constance, the suit says, investigators apologized for the inconvenience and went on their way.

Constance she didn’t want to sue her daughter, but that Leighton simply refuses to pay her the money she’s owed.

In a suit filed Friday, Meester states that she sent approximately $7,500 a month to Constance, who she says refuses to work, to go toward medical treatment for her younger brother Alexander, who underwent brain surgery in May.

But Meester’s lawsuit claims that Constance used a chunk of that money for plastic surgery on her face and stomach, Botox injections, hand fillers and hair extensions. Moreover, the suit charges that Constance is battling drug and alcohol abuse and has been taking Alexander’s prescription painkillers.

Meester says that she’s still happy to provide for her brother’s medical care and school tuition, but since then Constance has “concocted a ridiculous claim” that her daughter once promised her $10,000 a month for life.

The actress, who is seeking a court declaration that there was never any such agreement, calls the notion “absurd,” saying whatever money she sent was done so “voluntarily and gratuitiously.” She also claims that Constance threatened to sue her if she didn’t give her mother $3 million.

It doesn’t sound as if there will be any kissing and making up for these two any time soon.

Well, that’s one way to put the fun in dysfunctional.

Leighton Meester’s mom gave us all reason to count her out of the running for this year’s Mother of the Year honors this week—the Gossip Girl star has filed suit against her mommy dearest for allegedly using the $7,500 a month Leighton sent to cover her younger brother’s severe medical issues on (wait for it) Botox, plastic surgery and hair extensions for herself.

Now that’s class.

According to the suit, Leighton’s mother allegedly refuses to work, so Leighton has generously been sending $7,500 a month home in order to provide for the medical assistant needed by her younger brother, Lex.

However, Leighton claims that instead of paying for Lex’s much-needed medical care, mama Constance took the money for her own frivolous use, funding her cosmetic procedures and other personal expenses.

In the documents, Leighton’s attorneys state that the actress has “endured a difficult relationship with her mother.”

“Constance refuses to work. Instead, Constance expects her daughter to support her financially.”

As if that weren’t enough, Leighton also alleges in the suit that Constance—who, lest we forget, infamously gave birth to her actress daughter while in federal prison for her part in a drug smuggling ring—tried to wrangle her daughter into an oral contract in which Leighton would send her $10,000 a month for life.

Leighton wasn’t biting, and Constance allegedly threatened her daughter with a $3 million lawsuit.

“Leighton recently discovered that Constance has been using the money for her own personal benefit,” the suit states, going on to note that those personal benefits include “plastic surgery on her face and stomach, Botox injections for her face, fillers for her hands and hair extensions.”

Upon learning this, Leighton cut off payments to her mother entirely, thus the threat.

The documents state that Leighton’s mother has since “concocted a ridiculous claim that in March 2009, she and Constance entered into an oral agreement whereby Leighton purportedly agreed to pay Constance $10,000 per month for the rest of Constance’s life.”

Meester is now seeking to have a judge declare that there was never any such contract with her mother. Nor is there likely going to be any love lost between this duo.

“Leighton never agreed to pay Constance any amount of money, let alone financially support Constance for the rest of her life.”

As it happens, this isn’t the first time the 54-year-old has fallen foul of the law. In addition to her distant criminal past, it was just this year that she had a temporary restraining order filed against her by a woman whose son attends school with Lex. The woman claimed that Meester had threatened to “hunt down and kill” both her and her son.
