Leighton will be on the episode this Sunday!

Leighton Meester is now throwing her incredibly stylish hat into the music ring.

The queen bee of Gossip Girl’s Upper East Side announced at New York’s Fashion Week that she will be recording and releasing an album, reports Access Hollywood. Meester has always enjoyed making music, but this time around, she wants the public to hear her work as well.

The budding fashionista told Access, “It’s so cool because it’s a completely different creative process,” than television. Meester enthused, “From beginning to end it’s yours and you make it… You can see the finished product.”

Perhaps her role as teen pop star Justine Chapman on Entourage inspired her to bust out her first album. Either way, you can be sure many a Blair-wannabe will pick up her album and blog their little hearts out about its merits – or lack thereof.

Meester will also be appearing alongside Gossip co-star Blake Lively on NBC’s 30 Rock, as well as reprising her role as Justine on Entourage this Sunday, Sept. 14 at 10 pm/ET on HBO. [Source]

Connie Meester, mother of Gossip Girl’s Leighton, is writing a memoir, according to E! The book will reportedly include details of Leighton’s birth while Connie was doing time for drug-related crimes, as first reported by Star magazine on Tuesday.

Connie initially wrote her life story as a screenplay, but will now convert it into a book, according to her manager, Loch Powell, with chapters describing her role in a family marijuana-trafficking ring that was busted by the Feds in 1985. Powell reports that mother and daughter are “very close.”

There is no release date for the book, as Connie has yet to secure a publisher. [Source]

Gossip Girl frenemies Leighton Meester and Blake Lively have closed a deal to guest-star in a November sweeps episode of NBC’s increasingly stunt-happy 30 Rock, sources confirm to me exclusively. The dynamic duo will play — prepare to laugh ’till you piddle — former high school classmates of Liz Lemon’s in a flashback sequence that reveals a shocking and deeply ironic truth about Tina Fey’s morally superior alter ego: She was a Mean Girl!

The Gossip-inspired flashback coincides with Liz’s 20-year high school reunion, which means we’re also going to meet the adult versions of Meester and Lively’s characters. (In a kicky twist, Rock execs are talking to Blake’s older sis, Robyn Lively, about playing the latter part.) [Source]
