During a recent stop in Toronto, “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester says she spent her time off during the strike recording an album.“I’m figuring out everything, so I can’t tell you too much,” says Meester during an interview with eTalk.
“I probably should be finishing it within the next couple months, hopefully.”
Meester, who plays the deliciously catty Blair Waldorf on “Gossip Girl,” is no stranger to the music scene.
“I’ve been working on it my whole life, obviously,” says Meester.
“There’s a first time for everyone, and I really love it.”
The actress has previously mentioned in the media that she’s a big fan of Chris Cornell and Incubus, and has described her music as an electronic-rock hybrid that sounds like Gwen Stefani and MIA.
The pint-sized actress previously sang and starred in a film called “Drive-Thru,” in which her “Gossip Girl” co-star Penn Badgley also appeared. A clip of Meester singing in the flick can be found on YouTube.
There’s no word if Badgley, who told CTV.ca last year that he’s a fairly competent and prolific musician, is also going to appear on Meester’s as-yet-untitled album.
The show “Gossip Girl” is based on a best-selling series of novels, and was transformed into a television series last fall by the same producers responsible for the hit “The O.C.” “Gossip Girl” airs in Canada on CTV. (Source)
